To share the gospel effectively, we have to first listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. God has not called us to preach repentance to our teammates in every moment.
Discernment matters if we want the gospel to take root. But when our sharing is shaped more by comfort than by wisdom, we can hold back when the Spirit is prompting us to speak—or speak in ways that push people away from God rather than point them to Him
The way we share the Good News about Jesus must be Spirit-led, not us-led. Successful evangelism is taking the initiative in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to Him
Jesus didn’t stand on rooftops and condemn with a pointed finger. He drew people to Himself with gentleness and love.The gospel is not a message of condemnation–it is a message of unconditional love that calls us to repentance and new life.
At times, it can feel easier to focus on what’s wrong in others than to humbly engage them with patience, grace, and truth. When we surrender our comfort to meet our teammates where they are, without judgment but with compassion, we walk in the way of Jesus.
True faithfulness isn’t about avoiding hard truths or speaking carelessly—it’s about sharing what the Lord has impressed on our hearts with wisdom, courage, and love. When we share with confidence in the word God has spoken to us, we will know the right thing to say at the right time.
After a few times of feeling like it wasn’t the right moment to invite my friend to the Zoom Bible study, I finally felt the Lord telling me, “Now. This is the time to ask.”
I invited him, and he joined–and it had a great impact on his faith. It wasn’t effective because I delivered a perfect invitation. It was effective because I wasn’t pushing my own agenda; I was responding in obedience to the Lord’s timing.
We can share the gospel anytime, anywhere, but sharing the gospel as we are led by the Spirit will always bear more fruit than when we attempt to lead ourselves.
As we remain patient in God’s timing, our lives become a testimony to His goodness. Our joy, optimism, and love can soften hearts and prepare the soil, so that when the seed of God’s Word is planted, it is ready to take root and grow.
Challenge
Is there anyone in your life who you have tried to share the gospel with, but it hasn’t been received? Use this time to pray for those people. Ask God to lead you in the way you are sharing the Good News with them.
Take some time to pray for your teammates. (If you’re not on a team, pray for the people in your life). Ask God to soften their hearts to the gospel. Pray that the Lord would show you a way to reach them.
Prayer
“God, stir my heart to share the gospel with the people around me. Would your Spirit lead me and guide me in the way that I carry the Good News. I pray for those in my life who don’t know you. Soften their hearts to receive You, and show me a way to meet them where they are in love and grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
